Many researchers suggest that extraterrestrials had a huge influence on the development of the Ancient Mesopotamia.
They support this theory by the results of their research in which they studied drawings and ancient texts written on clay tablets.
According to these researchers, many of the drawings depicted discs and rockets flying through the sky, and even people standing near an aircraft.
Experts suggest that some of the signs painted on the clay tablets represent the flying ships of the aliens.
For example, a sign depicting a long cylindrical object with a pointed end was read by them as “din gir” – “Gods from fiery rockets.”
Sumerian legends mention “sparkling round objects flying in the sky like eagles” and “Shems walking across the sky.”
According to researchers, the Sumerians called the flying saucers of aliens as Shems.
Even, Sumer was written as “ki en gir”, which means “country of the rulers of missiles.”
Something similar to a rocket or a spacecraft is also mentioned in the legend of Gilgamesh.
“In the land where I come, I will find my shem, and in the place where the shems rise, I will rise in my shem into the sky itself.”A Sumerian King
On one of the clay tablets that narrates the history of a legendary king and his life, the following is written.
“At first the sky darkened, and then lit up with the brightest flash of light, from which the mighty“ God of the Sun ”appeared.
For a while, he looked at the people standing in front of him, and then he left, taking with him Gilgamesh’s friend Enkidu. It goes on to say that after traveling across the sky, Enkidu died of a mysterious disease, and Gilgamesh blamed the “poisonous breath of a heavenly beast”
However, the researchers believe that the mysterious disease was nothing more than radiation.
Sumer was the first urban civilization in Ancient Mesopotamia.
The alleged contact of the Sumerians with aliens is also mentioned in an ancient Mesopotamian text found in the library of King Ashurbanipal.
It was written around 2500 BC.
The legend tells about King Etana, nicknamed the Good, who lived for about 5000 years ago.
It is also mentioned that one day a “flying iron shield” landed on the town square near the royal palace, from which came out tall, dark-skinned, fair-haired people dressed in loose clothes.
They invited King Etana to the ship and offered to travel with them to distant planets.
The king agreed, and the ship quickly took off into the sky.
Traveling in a spaceship, the king visited Mars, the Moon, and Venus.
When two weeks passed since Etana had left for his celestial journey on the “iron shield”, the courtiers thought of him to be dead and began to look for a successor to the throne.
Suddenly, unexpectedly, a flying ship appeared in the sky over the city, surrounded by fire, which landed right in front of the palace.
Gradually the flame calmed down, and King Etana arrived out of the ship accompanied by the “Gods” who stayed with him in the palace for several days.
Further, in the texts, it is stated that the king once again ascended into the sky, but this time on another ship, similar to the “iron eagle”.
Interestingly, during excavations in Mesopotamia, scientists discovered an unusual seal that allegedly depicted a flight between Earth and Mars.
The earth on the seal is drawn in the form of seven circles, and Mars is represented by a six-pointed star and between them is a winged disk flying between two distant planets.
In addition, the seal also depicts two “Gods”.
According to scientists, the alleged seal is approximately 6 thousand years old which is the estimated age of Ancient Mesopotamia.
