Visoko, located around 35 kilometers north of Bosnia‘s capital Sarajevo, is home to a cluster of hills that are frequently compared as pyramids. The Researcher, Semir Osmanagi, who is also a businessman believes that the hills are in fact the Bosnian Pyramids: the world’s largest man-made pyramids.
In 2005, Dr. Sam Osmanagich, a Bosnian-born anthropologist, claimed to the world’s media his discovery that a set of hills near Visoko, a small village in central Bosnia, were actually buried and forgotten Pyramids of gigantic size and extreme age. The Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun is thought to be at least 300m (900ft) tall, making it the tallest of the Bosnian Pyramids. Though lesser in stature at 190m (600ft), the Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon is nevertheless nearly 50m (150ft) taller than the Great Pyramid of Giza.
Mr. Osmanagi has expanded the pyramids theory for the last 15 years, based on many excavations conducted since 2006. According to him, the pyramids were very certainly constructed by the Illyrians, one of the Balkans’ ancient communities.
Mr. Osmanagi claimed in a 2017 interview that the buildings went back 34,000 years. Additionally, he asserts that tunnels beneath the hills dubbed the Ravne tunnels, are man-made and ancient. He claims to have discovered “standing waves” at the summit of the tallest mountain that moves faster than the speed of light and enables intergalactic communication.
“Ancient peoples built a machine with which they could communicate with the furthest reaches of the cosmos,”
Mr Osmanagić told the Russia-based web portal Sputnik.
The response to his statement was varied, with those interested in esoteric theories about the world’s ancient pyramids expressing equal amounts of excitement. However, there was widespread doubt, even among the indigenous Bosnian population, and, despite their lack of appropriate scientific study, loud denunciation from academic circles keen on preserving a collapsing paradigm.
Initial observations of Dr. Osmanagic Regarding The Bosnian Pyramids
The first statement of Dr. Osmanagic was based entirely on a hypothesis and he believed that the numerous hills in the Visoko area had four-sided triangle faces. The triangular faces have uniform corners and slope angles. As was the case with many other world pyramids and megalithic sites, the faces of these ‘hills’ were almost precisely aligned with the cardinal directions, north, south, east, and west.
Three of the greatest pyramidal ‘hills’ (Sun, Moon, and Dragon Pyramids) formed a near-perfect equilateral triangle between their peaks due to their spatial layout. Due to the Sun and Moon Pyramids’ relative positions and heights, a shadow is formed that marks the start of summer (Solstice) and the transition to midsummer.
The locals of the place responded to his statements and the elders narrated how they used to play in the underground of Visoko.
Excavations of 2006
Dr Osmanagich began self-financing research of the Bosnian Pyramids in 2006 in order to gather empirical evidence in support of his contentious pyramid concept. Five principal sites were selected for initial examination using satellites, geo-radar, seismic surveys, and topographic analysis (later named Pyramids Sun, Moon, Dragon, Love and Temple of Mother Earth). Archaeological trenches were dug across all of these major sites, which were supervised by Dr Osmanagich and other archaeologists, geologists, and geophysicists.
The substance was determined to be an artificial conglomerate geopolymer with chemical and mechanical properties distinct from the local geological material. It was proven to be stronger than both native conglomerates and even modern concrete in strength testing.
According to Dr. Osmanagich’s original hypothesis, these hills were either modified to seem like pyramids, or built from the ground up by a civilization unknown to mainstream history, using construction methods unknown to modern science.
Discovery of the Subterranean Tunnels
Soon after Dr. Osmanagich came across an opening to an underground tunnel called ‘Ravne Tunnels’ and a passage to these tunnels was located approximately 2.5km northwest of the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun. Upon discovery, the passage was known to locals but only seen as a cave of no relevance. Dr. Osmanagich discovered an infilled path towards the cave’s back.
Upon investigation, it was found that the entire tunnel network had been backfilled with loose rubble material, and it is difficult to envision how it could have been done without being noticed and documented by the local populace. In a few meters, Dr. Osmanangich discovered multiple infilled passages which were beautifully decorated. It suggested that these passages cutting down the solid rocks were done by intelligent hands.
There were also shaped stones with possible proto-runic language etched on them. Also, enormous megalithic blocks are known as Megaceramic blocks K1, K2 & K3, and the Egg-shaped Monolith were found. All of these discoveries backed up Dr. Osmanagich’s 2005 claims about his prehistoric Bosnian pyramid theory.
What do Scientists say?
None of Dr. Osmanagich’s objective proofs were enough to persuade the historical paradigm’s gatekeepers. Some detractors of the project said Dr. Osmanagich shaped the hills into pyramids and dug the tunnels himself.
The European Association of Archaeologists labeled the Bosnian Pyramid Project a “hoax on an unknowing public,” while British Archaeology called it a “Great Scheme.” Dr. Zahi Hawass, the ousted Egyptian Minister of Antiquities, chimed in, claiming Dr. Osmanagich was having “hallucinations”.
The unsubstantiated speculation that the tunnels were created by a Yugoslavian army training exercise was less absurd. However, there is no gold, nor was there ever any mineral of commercial consequence within the rock unit the Ravne Tunnels cut through.
Deception, spin, and blatant lies were used to misinform the inquiring public about the Bosnian Pyramids. While many were eager to attack Dr. Osmanagich personally, no one was willing to debate his raised proofs objectively and scientifically on a level playing field.
The Bosnian pyramids have been an open site of research for a long time. Independent researchers have been traveling to Visoko to study the Bosnian Pyramids’ electromagnetic and acoustic qualities. Experts from the UK, Finland, Italy, Croatia, and Serbia were able to detect and measure the Bosnian Pyramids’ emissions using diverse equipment and methods. In addition to a focused and sustained beam of electromagnetic energy emerging from its peak, their research discovered a diffusive sound at ultrasonic frequencies.

The Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids uses poly-interference photography to photograph biological energy fields. The PIP camera captured the Bosnian Pyramids manipulating the Earth’s natural EM-field. The Bosnian Pyramids’ energy properties were clearly distinguished from those of surrounding natural landforms using the same technique.
Excavations of 2018 and 2019
In the spring of 2019, the raised floor within the open area was determined to be rich in archaeological artefacts. During the summer of 2019, the Ravne Tunnels yielded around 3000 findings. There were lithic items and pottery fragments found.
The work completed before the end of the 2019 summer season allowed for relative and absolute dating of the Ravne3 Tunnels. Radiometric dating of geological material dated the development of the Ravne Tunnels at least 6000 years old, with the likelihood they are older.
