Two weeks have passed since the Perseverance rover landed on the red planet, and now it has turned its wheels and embarked on its maiden voyage across the surface of Mars. New images sent by the one-ton robot to Earth on Friday indicate that the excursion was a short turn. Engineers have spent time getting the vehicle and its many systems into operation, including its instruments and a robotic arm. Perseverance’s mission is to explore a near-equatorial crater called Jezero, to search for evidence of alien life. This will involve traveling about 15 km during the next Martian year (approximately two Earth years).
Scientists want to reach a series of rock formations in the crater that could preserve a record of ancient biological activity. Among these is what in satellite images appears to be a delta, a structure built from silt and sand thrown up by a river as it enters a larger body of water. In Jezero’s case, this wider body was most likely a crater-wide lake that existed billions of years ago. But before Perseverance can get going, they have to run an experiment.
The robot is going to pilot a small helicopter brought from Earth. The rover will spend the next few weeks moving from its current location to a suitable stretch of terrain where the Ingenuity helicopter can be safely placed on the ground. Currently, the drone is under Perseverance. All of this may be exciting for scientists, but it seems that now Perseverance has discovered a flying object on Mars that could change the way we see the red planet.
Flying Object On Mars
The red planet has given us some recent surprises since NASA’s Perseverance rover landed on Mars. But now it has unexpectedly captured something out of the ordinary in low resolution. The image was taken with its left navigation camera that is built into the rover (Navcam) on March 1 (you can see the original image here ).
“NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover acquired this image using its integrated left navigation camera (Navcam),” says the explanation accompanying the image. “The camera is located high on the mast of the rover and helps to steer. This image was acquired on March 1, 2021 (Sun 9) at 16:59:02 local mean solar time. “
As can be seen in the images, the strange object is not a dust particle on the camera lens , considering that 4 photographs were taken at the same time, revealing that the object only materialized in the third photo. And unsurprisingly, the snapshot has caused quite a stir in the ufological and conspiracy community, where some experts have offered their theories.
Ufologists assure that it is clearly an extraterrestrial , or rather a Martian, ship that is following the evolution of the rovers that the different space agencies have deployed in its territory. Another possibility is that it is a drone of terrestrial manufacture and that shows that there have been colonies of humans on the red planet for years. But not everyone is convinced by this explanation.
Conspiracy theorists claim that the anomaly in the sky is a bird, but not a Martian bird, but a terrestrial one. As we already published, since Perseverance arrived on Mars it has been recording all kinds of unexplained anomalies. For example, shiny objects on a small mound; a skull, possibly of an extraterrestrial being, with an open mouth; and even a small round object leaving a trail or a few small steps behind it.
And all of this leads us to believe that NASA’s Perseverance never traveled to the red planet and that recent images of the Martian surface were taken on an island of Devon in Canada , the largest uninhabited island on Earth.
So far, NASA has not commented on this strange sighting and, of course, we do not think it will. And if that were the case, they would quickly give him a logical and rational explanation to end the controversy.
Was there really something flying in the sky of the red planet? Is it a Martian bird, a terrestrial bird, or a UFO?
