UFO Fleet Spotted Flying Out of Popocatepetl Volcano in Mexico

The Popocatepetl volcano, located roughly 70 kilometers southeast of Mexico City, has become one of the most frequently cited UFO hotspots on Earth. Since the 1990s, millions of viewers following the Mexican government’s live volcano webcam feed have witnessed unidentified objects entering, exiting, and orbiting one of North America’s most active and dangerous volcanoes. A footage event capturing an entire fleet of objects flying in formation directly out of the crater sparked global attention and reignited serious debate about what, exactly, is operating around Popocatepetl — and whether the volcano itself plays a role in whatever is happening there.

The Webcam That Changed UFO Research

Mexico’s National Center for Disaster Prevention (CENAPRED) operates a continuous live camera feed trained on Popocatepetl’s crater. Originally installed to monitor eruption activity, the camera has inadvertently become one of the most productive UFO monitoring systems in the world. Researchers dedicated to reviewing the footage have catalogued hundreds of incidents over the past two decades — bright cylindrical objects descending into the crater, elongated craft emerging from the volcanic plume, luminous spheres orbiting the summit at extreme speeds. The footage is genuine in the sense that it comes directly from a government monitoring agency with no obvious motive to fabricate UAP content. What appears on the camera keeps appearing, with a regularity that is difficult to attribute to lens artifacts or atmospheric effects alone.

The Fleet Footage: What Was Captured

The specific incident showing multiple objects in formation departing the volcano’s crater in rapid succession was captured on the CENAPRED feed and quickly spread across UFO research communities and mainstream media. The objects in the footage maintain consistent spacing, move at comparable speeds, and follow trajectories that distinguish them from volcanic ejecta — which moves ballistically, not in controlled formation. Analysts who frame-by-frame reviewed the footage noted that the objects appear luminous rather than reflective, suggesting they generate rather than simply reflect light, and that their departure angle is too steep and too controlled for any known type of volcanic material. The formation pattern itself is the most striking element: material expelled by a volcanic event does not organize into evenly spaced groups traveling on parallel vectors.

A Long History of Popocatepetl UFO Incidents

The fleet sighting is the most dramatic in a long series of documented Popocatepetl incidents. In October 2012, a cigar-shaped object approximately one kilometer in length was captured on the same webcam apparently diving directly into the crater during an eruption event. Mexican journalist and UFO researcher Ana Luisa Cid, who has monitored the CENAPRED feed for years, documented the incident and it was covered by major outlets including the Huffington Post. In 2013, another elongated craft was filmed entering the volcanic plume. In subsequent years, multiple spherical objects were recorded circling the summit. The pattern is strikingly consistent: large, structured objects entering or exiting the volcano during periods of heightened eruption activity, as if the volcanic energy itself is a point of interest or utility for whatever is operating there.

The Underground Base Hypothesis

Within the UFO research community, Popocatepetl has become central to a broader hypothesis about underground or subterranean extraterrestrial installations. The volcano sits atop a vast network of geological formations extending deep into the Earth’s crust. Researchers including Luis Burgos and others associated with Latin American UFO research organizations have proposed that the objects are entering and exiting an installation located deep within the volcanic structure — using the geothermal energy as a power source and the volcanic environment as natural cover. This hypothesis gains circumstantial support from the consistency of the sightings: the same general approach and departure vectors, the same size categories of objects, and the apparent preference for periods of active eruption, when the thermal and electromagnetic signatures of the volcano would be at their most intense and most effective at masking the energy signatures of aircraft operations.

Official Response and Ongoing Monitoring

Mexican aviation and disaster authorities have not officially commented on the UFO incidents captured by the CENAPRED feed, treating the camera’s primary purpose — volcanic monitoring — as entirely separate from whatever anomalous objects appear in the footage. This institutional silence is frustrating to researchers but not surprising: acknowledging structured craft operating around an active volcano would raise questions about flight safety, airspace management, and the nature of the objects that Mexican authorities are not in a position to answer. Independent researchers continue to monitor the feed around the clock. Given that the camera is live, publicly accessible, and continuously recording one of the most UAP-active locations on Earth, Popocatepetl remains one of the best opportunities available to the general public to observe and document UFO activity as it happens.
