Ezekiel was among those young men who were brought to Babylon during the first captivity in 597 B.C. He acted as a type of religious advisor to the Hebrew exiles who were permitted to dwell in a community on their own near the Kebar River. The book of Ezekiel mentions a strange UFO-like device called as the “Wheel of Ezekiel”.
Scholars generally believe that the majority of what was written in The Book of Ezekiel was composed by the prophet himself. They believed for a time that he authored nearly the entire book while living in the exile colony.
However, a modern study has provided various reasons for believing that at least a portion of the first section’s chapters comprises addresses personally delivered by the prophet to the people who remained in Jerusalem until the city’s destruction in 586 B.C.
The book begins with a description of the vision that called Ezekiel to his prophetic vocation. Ezekiel depicts his vision as a sophisticated and elaborate image that represents the majesty of Yahweh and declares Yahweh’s dominion over all the nations of the earth.
When viewed through the lens of technological advancements, Ezekiel’s story is one of the most intriguing of the numerous biblical accounts of odd events and extraterrestrial occurrences. When biblical texts are generally examined via this lens, an intriguing picture emerges of the potential that our ancient ancestors were truly visited by an advanced race and not Gods.
The ancient astronaut theory suggests that Ezekiel’s “vision” of the Merkabah, or the wheel of Ezekiel, was more likely a spaceship or space shuttle used by an advanced culture to communicate with humanity.
Erich von Daniken is one of the most prominent proponents of this hypothesis, and his argument for an alternative interpretation of the Book of Ezekiel is extremely strong. His theory was so convincing that it inverted the entire thesis of a NASA scientist’s book written to disprove his claim.
The Wheel Of Ezekiel And NASA’s Attempt To Discredit The Theory
In the 1970s, NASA invited Erich von Daniken to a private conference where he met another renowned researcher, Josef F. Blumric. The duo discussed descriptively Daniken’s ancient astronaut theory from his book Chariots of the Gods, with particular reference to the notion that The wheel of Ezekiel was of a space shuttle and not a celestial chariot.
The discussion inspired Blumrich to reject Von Daniken’s theory which seemed a bit absurd to him, so he conducted his own research and decided to write a book about it. Nevertheless, the evidence was compelling, and Blumrich had a sudden realization that clearly, Ezekiel was discussing an advanced spacecraft. Blumrich patented his own design of an omnidirectional wheel based on Ezekiel’s description of the vessel.
The Description Of The Wheel Of Ezekiel And The Spaceship
When we talk about Judaism and other Abrahamic biblical traditions, then Ezekiel is definitely referred to, who is a famous figurine.
In contrast to the majority of biblical books, which are written in the third person, interestingly, The Book of Ezekiel is written with the first-person pronoun “I”, indicating that it was written by Ezekiel himself as a first-person account. The fact that the narrative is narrated quickly after it happened appears to lend it additional credibility and personality.
In his book, Ezekiel states that he saw a wheeled chariot descending toward him from the sky, driven by “human-like” beings. While many biblical versions of the story identify the figure on the chariot as God, von Daniken notes that the original Hebrew text never mentions God; the phrase was inserted later.
The manner in which Ezekiel is describing the landing of the Godly Chariot, looks more like the landing of a spaceship. As the spaceship descended, the whirlwind, lightning, and spectacular lights were the elements that looked like a supernatural phenomenon, a sight that no one from such a primitive era has ever witnessed. Even Ezekiel portrays the flames propelling the chariot as “glowing metal.”
“I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north—an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light. The center of the fire looked like glowing metal, and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures. In appearance their form was human, but each of them had four faces and four wings. Their legs were straight; their feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished bronze. Under their wings on their four sides they had human hands. All four of them had faces and wings, and the wings of one touched the wings of another. Each one went straight ahead; they did not turn as they moved.”Ezekiel
“When studied in detail, it was figured out that there is a huge disparity between this statement and the majority of biblical artwork depicting Ezekiel’s vision. Images frequently omit specifics on the fire, the omnidirectional wheels, and the vaulted crystal covering the head of creatures who looked like humans. As I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the ground beside each creature with its four faces. This was the appearance and structure of the wheels: They sparkled like topaz, and all four looked alike. Each appeared to be made like a wheel intersecting a wheel. As they moved, they would go in any one of the four directions the creatures faced; the wheels did not change direction as the creatures went Their rims were high and awesome, and all four rims were full of eyes all around. Spread out above the heads of the living creatures was what looked something like a vault, sparkling like crystal, and awesome.”Ezekiel
The creatures who looked like humans then took Ezekiel in their spaceship and then transported Ezekiel to a ‘temple’ atop the tallest mountain in their craft. Throughout the flight, Ezekiel recounted that he feels that the hand of God on him which could be understood as the force of gravity or g-forces felt at liftoff. Then, he is transported to the ‘temple’ of these beings, which is most likely a staging place or city where they reside.
The Spaceships of Ezekiel
The Spaceships of Ezekiel is a book written in 1974 by Josef F. Blumrich (March 17, 1913 – February 10, 2002) about a spaceship that was witnessed by the prophet Ezekiel. The most appealing factor is that the book was written when the author was the chief of NASA’s systems layout branch of the program development office at the Marshall Space Flight Center.
Blumrich in his book argues that Ezekiel’s tale in the Bible was not a depiction of an encounter with God in a prophecy, but rather one of the multiple contacts with ancient astronauts in an interplanetary shuttlecraft. During his study, Blumrich examined six different Bible interpretations in light of his engineering expertise. He presented one of his theories and stated that one possible interpretation of Ezekiel’s vision in which he saw God riding in a precise vehicle, accompanied by angels could actually reveal the future and ended up giving him different messages to deliver. In the book’s appendices, he provides technical specs for the hypothetical spacecraft.
The Ark of the Covenant appears in a variety of biblical stories as an artifact of interest to von Daniken’s idea. He finds the most relevance in its reference to the Kebra Nagast, a history of Christianity in Ethiopia under King Solomon. He stated that King Solomon had flying machines but there were no mentions of the same in the bible.
According to these scriptures, people feared the Ark because it frequently murdered those who came into close touch with it. Was this due to the object’s radioactivity or electrical charge? Was the Ark of the Covenant a reactor for plutonium?
Erich Von Daniken argues that other biblical passages support his ancient astronaut idea, including ones that allude to ‘temples’ or landing sites for spacecraft comparable to the one Ezekiel was taken to. Chavin de Huantar, a temple from a civilization about which little is known, is located in Peru, thousands of feet above sea level on a mountain.
The temple is adorned with carved heads that appear to be wearing helmets and winged figures. These, according to Von Daniken, have a similar genesis to those recounted by Ezekiel in the Bible.
